The Dudley & Deborah Butterfield Scholarship
Meredith attended Bermuda High School for Girls between 1998 and 2008. In 2008, she went to Trinity College School at Port Hope, Ontario, Canada from where she graduated in 2011.
Over the course of her education, Meredith has received subject prizes in latin, history, chemistry, politics, biology, physics, drama and exercise sciences. On graduating from Trinity, she ranked second overall in her class and received a medal for dedication to school life, a medal for excellence in English, and the Headmaster’s award for academic distinction.
Meredith is keen on drama and performed in a number of school plays and musicals at the Bermuda High School and Trinity College School. She also earned the Duke of Edinburgh Bronze Award in Bermuda. In her final year at Trinity, she was elected by the school community as a prefect.
In Bermuda, Meredith was a member of the Concepts In Motion professional dance company for more than five years and participated in five DanceBermuda summer programs. While in Canada, she volunteered as a dance teacher and danced in competitions across Ontario in 2009, earning many first place finishes.
Meredith is committed to contributing to her community. In Bermuda, she has volunteered at the hospital, the SPCA and the aquarium. She has volunteered with Habitat for Humanity in Canada, worked for Rebound Child Services tutoring young students on a weekly basis, and organized World Vision’s initiative at Trinity to raise money for children in Uganda, Ethiopia and Cambodia.
Meredith is also very keen on rowing and served as the co-captain of the varsity rowing team in the final two of her five seasons, receiving a trophy for top senior oarswoman.
Meredith has been accepted into the Faculty of Science at McGill University to study Biological, Biomedical and Life Sciences. She was also awarded a McGill Entrance Scholarship.
Meredith’s long term objective is to pursue a career in medicine in Bermuda.
