SYMONDS, Marcus
The McGill Bermuda Scholarship
Marcus attended Warwick Academy from 2001 to 2008. He successfully passed GCSEs in nine subjects and most recently graduated from Warwick having successfully completed the International Baccalaureate. While at Warwick, he consistently earned Principal’s List Honours and First Honours at the school’s prize giving ceremonies.
Marcus was a member, and eventually rose to captain, of the Warwick rugby team. He has also played for the Bermuda National Under-19 Rugby Team in international tournaments, most recently in Toronto.
Marcus attained the Duke of Edinburgh Gold Award following a gruelling five-day hike through northern Trinidad. During his early school years, Marcus also took part in a student exchange program and lived with a Costa Rican family in San Jose for two weeks.
Marcus is interested in music having achieved grade certificates from the Royal School of Music for clarinet and theory. He has contributed to the local community by volunteering in the YouthNet peer monitoring program and as a B.A.M.Z. volunteer. He also participated in the Bermuda Cadet Corps and achieved the rank of Lance Corporal.
Marcus will enter McGill University in September 2008 to study for a Bachelor of Arts. Ultimately, he hopes to proceed on to law.
