SPEARING, James A

The Dudley & Deborah Butterfield Scholarship

 

 James attended Saltus Grammar School between 1983 to 1992. After five years of high school education at Ridley College, St. Catherines, Ontario, he graduated with an honours diploma in 1997.

James has a keen interest in the arts particularly music and drama. He was a member of the Ridley College choir and plays both the saxophone and the clarinet. His theatrical performances included four major musicals and two dramatic plays in which he has had four lead roles. James has held a number of leadership positions having acted as a peer tutor, middle school house counsellor and a school prefect. James also has a keen involvement in sports. In particular, he has played on the varsity badminton and tennis teams at Ridley College receiving colours in both sports.

James entered McGill University in September, 1997 where he pursued a Bachelor of Science Degree.
